Begun by Sendell the Curious in the 1200's, the Freedom Society still fills much the same role that it has over the years. Their forces furthur their influence in the world by "improving" the bodies of faithful followers of their way. Sendell, who originally researched magic related to improving crop yields,thur to create new and better potions on their own. Doing such is considered treason within the group, and often results in hunting down the renegades and "terminating" them. Only a handful of these breakoff groups can operate without secrecy, those with purposes close enough to the Freedom Society's as a whole as well as those posessing the power to put up a good fight against the mother organization.

Warriors and ambassadors alike of the society have gained the reputa- tion of real bad-ass characters to mess with. The knowledge of their permanent "mutations" have become well known, that they are not always as they seem. Underestimation of a "freebie," as they are often called, results more often than not in the spilling of lifeblood.
